Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul teaches not to cause offense so the ministry isn't blamed. He urges us to prove ourselves as ministers of God by enduring patience through troubles and needs.
Neville's Inner Vision
All scripture is the language of inner states. If you would keep the ministry from being blamed, you must dwell as the I AM, unmoved by outward forms. Giving no offense is not etiquette but the discipline of not letting any appearance interrupt your sense of who you are. In all things, you approve yourselves as the ministers of God by maintaining the inner state that expresses through every deed. When afflictions, necessities, or distresses press in, they are inner movements, not punishments; they test your fidelity to the divine idea within. The patience spoken is patience with your old thoughts, patience with the mind's resistance, not passive resignation. Endurance shows that you believe the state of God is at work in you and through you. You are the minister; God works through your consciousness, your I AM. So claim now that you have already achieved the ministry through your inner certainty, and observe the outer world gradually conform to that truth.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the Minister of God now.' Hold the feeling of that state, especially when faced with a trial; revise any offense or fear until your inner sense confirms the truth.
