2 Corinthians 5:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 5 in context

Scripture Focus

9Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:9-10

Biblical Context

The passage says we labor to be acceptable to the Lord, and that all of us will appear before Christ to be judged by what we have done, good or bad.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's language, the labor mentioned is not outward toil but the steady discipline of the mind to awaken to the I AM. 'Whether present or absent' points to the inner reality that this judgment occurs within you, in waking life or in imagination. 'Things done in his body' refer to the acts of consciousness—our thoughts, choices, and feelings that shape our state of being. The 'judgment seat of Christ' becomes the inner light of awareness where you observe your states and decide which align with love and the divine image and which arise from fear or separation. Christ stands within as your perfect state; your acceptance is not something earned from elsewhere but realized as your true nature. When you rest in that awareness, what you call 'good' flows as integrity and harmony, while 'bad' is the invitation to revise and reimagine. A practical move is to begin from the assumption of acceptance, then gently revise any sense of unworthiness by dwelling in that I AM presence until your life reflects it.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already accepted by the I AM; revise any sense of unworthiness by affirming, 'I am accepted in Christ now.' Then, in a moment of quiet, imagine yourself seated before the inner judgment seat and feel the light of awareness rearranging your thoughts into truth.
