Presence Beyond the Body

2 Corinthians 5:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 5 in context

Scripture Focus

8We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8

Biblical Context

Paul states a confident longing to depart the body and be with the Lord. The present reality, in Neville's reading, is the inner Presence of God within the I AM, not the outer form.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the reader of Neville, the verse reveals a state of consciousness rather than a distant event. When he proclaims being absent from the body and present with the Lord, he names the condition your awareness can wear now. The Lord is the I AM within you, an unchanging reality beyond physical form. The body may be here or there, but your true location is this Presence you are. By entertaining the feeling of already being with the Lord, you shift your entire sense of life; the imagination becomes the instrument that redefines experience. Instead of seeking a future fulfillment, he invites you to rest in the certainty that you are now in companionship with the divine Presence. Persist in that vision, revise any sense of separation, and observe your outward state align with the inner fact. This is not escape but discovery: as you assume the Lord’s company, you awaken into a new life that the body can reflect, yet never define.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: For one minute, close your eyes and assume you are already present with the Lord; feel the I AM as a tangible, comforting presence around you. Then revise any sense of separation until your next breath confirms that you are eternally with the Presence.
