The Inner Life Swallowing Mortality

2 Corinthians 5:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 5 in context

Scripture Focus

4For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:4-5

Biblical Context

Paul portrays the body as a burdensome tent, groaning in weariness. The aim is not to shed it, but to be clothed with life, so mortality is swallowed up by life, with the Spirit as a foretaste.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, you are not merely this visible body, but the I AM that animates all form. The tent you inhabit groans, not for death to end, but for life to fill every chamber of your being. When you hear mortality swallowed up by life, understand it as a turning of awareness: the old sense of separation dissolves as you turn toward the eternal Life within. God, who wrought you for this exact transformation, has given you the earnest of the Spirit—a tangible foretaste, a felt assurance that you are already in the process of becoming the new creation. This earnest is not future hope but present conviction: you are the vibration of Life manifesting as a person who knows itself. The body remains the tent, but the self grows into the Light that fills it. Rest in that truth, and the groan softens into quiet expectancy. You are in the Life that swallows mortality, here and now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state: you are already living as Life, not as a transient body. Feel the Spirit's earnest in your chest and hold the conviction that mortality has been swallowed up by Life in you.
