Biblical Context
Paul declares we no longer know people by outward appearances. In Christ we become a new creation, and the old self passes away as all things become new.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you is a state of consciousness where 'in Christ' means you are a new creation right now. The verse tells you that you no longer know men by their outward appearance, nor do you measure Christ by the old garment of the flesh. The I AM that you are does not remember the former self; it remembers only the truth that old things have passed away, and behold, all things are become new in awareness. When you claim this, you are not changing conditions outside; you are revising the conditions inside—the inner sense of self, the way you feel about others, and the meaning you assign to events. The world then reflects that renewal, not by erasing history, but by revealing a fresh center of consciousness from which life radiates. Practice the equivalent of sleeping upon your assumption: repeatedly declare, 'I am in Christ, a new creature,' and imagine the feeling of that completion filling your entire being.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the end—feel the new creation now. Sit with closed eyes and repeat, 'I am in Christ; old things have passed away,' letting the feeling of aliveness as the new self flood your being and soften your view of others.
