Treasure in Fragile Vessels
2 Corinthians 4:7-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Corinthians 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse speaks of a divine treasure inside our frail bodies, with power belonging to God rather than to us. Even in trouble and persecution, life endures as the living Christ manifests through our mortal bodies.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within 2 Corinthians 4:7-12, the treasure is not the vessel but the I AM that dwells within. The earthen body is merely the outward glass through which God’s power can be seen, and the power comes from God, not from us. When you are troubled on every side, you do not yield to distress because your awareness, the I AM, remains intact. Perplexity shifts from despair to a call to recall what you are aware of in this moment. When you are persecuted or cast down, you are not forsaken; the deeper self endures. The dying of the Lord Jesus in the body signals a form of inner surrender: let the old self die, and let the life of Jesus be revealed in your flesh. This does not happen by effort but by rest in the truth that life flows from within. Death may seem to work, yet life is always at work in you, until the world before you can see the living power at work through your mortal frame. Your ultimate unveiling is God’s presence acting through you.
Practice This Now
Assume the truth that you already carry the treasure of God within you; revise your self-concept to identify with the inner I AM and feel the power rising. Close your eyes, breathe, and repeat 'I AM the power of God within me now' until the body relaxes and life appears through you.
