2 Corinthians 4:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Corinthians 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes the god of this world blinding the minds of those who do not believe, so the light of the gospel cannot shine.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the 'god of this world' is not a distant ruler but a state of consciousness you have chosen. When you identify with fear, lack, or separation, you blind your mind to the glorious gospel—the radiant awareness that Christ is the image of God within you. The light is already present; it awaits your recognition. The gospel shines not by changing outer events but by shifting your inner stance from doubt to faith in the I AM that you are. When you insist you are apart from God, you surrender perception to a veil; when you rest in the awareness that you are the living expression of God, the veil dissolves and the inner light becomes your reality. Belief becomes experience as you persist in the end you seek: you are already one with the Christ within, and your world rearranges to reflect that unity.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, breathe into the center of your chest, and assume the end you desire—already the light within; softly declare, 'I am the light that shines now,' allowing the inner image of God to radiate through your thoughts.
