2 Corinthians 10:5

Biblical Context

Let go of every mental image that contradicts God’s knowledge, and bring every thought under the obedience of Christ.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through Neville’s lens, casting down imaginations is a discipline of the mind. Imaginations are states of consciousness you entertain; the knowledge of God is the awareness of your true self, the I AM, the Christ within. When a thought rises that exalts itself against that knowledge, do not struggle with it outwardly. Withdraw belief from it and assume the state in which the Christ reigns. Bring every thought into obedience of Christ by repeatedly choosing the image that aligns with God’s life in you. The outer world will follow as you dwell in the inner state of peace and power. The high thing is your inflated conception; dethrone it by maintaining quiet awareness that you are one with God. Practice persistence: identify a disturbing thought, declare it foreign to the I AM, and imagine it replaced by the feeling of God’s plan already realized here and now. In time, imaginations bow and the truth of your true nature shines through in every circumstance.

Practice This Now

Practice: Sit quietly, repeat I AM, and, in imagination, assume the Christ within governs every thought; when a contrary thought arises, revise it by replacing it with the obedient image and feel it real.
