The Lord's Quiet Commendation

2 Corinthians 10:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 10 in context

Scripture Focus

18For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
2 Corinthians 10:18

Biblical Context

Boasting about oneself earns no real approval. True endorsement comes from the Lord alone.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider that every boast you utter is a movement in your own consciousness, a seeking of external applause to fill an inner vacancy. The verse is not pleading for humiliation but directing you to the source of all value—the Lord within. When I teach, I say that God is the I AM behind your breaths, and 'commendation' from Him is a state you enter, not a certificate you pin on your chest. If you assume you are already approved by that divine life, you shift from striving to quiet certainty. The one who praises himself looks outward for a pat on the back; the one told by the Lord dwells inwardly, where love, humility, and power converge. Your outward life will begin to reflect an inner alignment that has already been blessed by God. Do not chase after human applause; instead, cultivate the inner discipline of resting in the awareness that you are loved and approved by the I AM. In this way, 'the Lord commendeth' becomes a daily experience rather than a distant decree.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are already approved by the Lord; feel it real until that assurance governs your next decision.
