2 Corinthians 1:23-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 1 in context

Scripture Focus

23Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
24Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
2 Corinthians 1:23-24

Biblical Context

Paul explains that he delayed coming to Corinth to spare them, not to rule over their faith. His role is to support their joy, for their faith stands by their own inner trust.

Neville's Inner Vision

Suppose you are Paul, but not a man outside; you are the I AM within, speaking softly to your own states: I call God to witness my intent to spare you any crushing move of control. In this inner theater, Corinth is a state of consciousness longing for steadfast faith. He says, I do not govern your faith; rather, I am helpers of your joy. Your faith stands by your own inner conviction, by the trust you imagine as already fulfilled. Therefore the dynamic is not rule, but service—your role is to elevate the other's sense of being, not to compel their beliefs. When you accept this, you realize that your acts are not external commands but inner revisions of feeling. By choosing to be a quiet, compassionate invitation to joy, you release the need to hurry events. The I AM in you can imagine the desired state as already present in others, and thus others’ faith is nourished by your steady, joyous presence. Your inner state becomes the very law by which reality unfolds.

Practice This Now

Assume the role of the inner Paul: declare to yourself, I am not the ruler of your faith; I am the tender helper of your joy. Then feel that assurance as if it's already true in your heart.
