Biblical Context
The verse notes that the remaining non-Israelite peoples and their children in the land were made to pay tribute, signaling a settled order under Solomon.
Neville's Inner Vision
All that remains of what once seems foreign within my inner land is but a stray image, waiting to be absorbed by the I AM that I am. This verse teaches a law, not a conquest: anything not yet integrated into my living state of consciousness must henceforth pay its tribute to the reigning reality of me. The land is my subjective field; the remnants—fear, doubt, old lack, or unchallenged habit—are the tributaries whose energy supports the greater stream when I observe them with awareness. Solomon, the symbol of discernment and order within me, commands that these pieces yield their energy rather than be banished. They offer me attention, possibility, and energy only when I regard them as parts of a whole that are finally in alignment with my I AM. Obedience is not force but consent: I align my inner state with the truth that I AM, and provision follows that harmony. When I stop erasing every trace of the past and instead acknowledge it, my inner economy flows in accord with the Kingdom of God.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, assume the I AM as sovereign of your inner land, invite every leftover habit to pay you tribute in confidence and abundance, and feel it real.
