The Inner King in Trial
2 Chronicles 35:23-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Chronicles 35 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage describes Josiah being struck by archers, his request to be carried away, his death in Jerusalem, and the people mourning in Judah.
Neville's Inner Vision
From a Neville vantage, the archers are the hurled beliefs of fear that shoot at the image of the king inside you. Josiah's wound and cry 'Have me away' is the I AM indicating a need to shift, to move away from the old throne and its pain. The second chariot represents a new state of consciousness you choose to ride—one that can bear the wound temporarily and yet carry you toward Jerusalem, the inner city of peace within. His death and burial in the sepulchres of his fathers signals the passing of inherited patterns of kingship and old self-definition; the lineage you wore in the past is laid to rest, not denied, simply released. And when all Judah and Jerusalem mourn, see the field of your mind acknowledging that a transformation has occurred: the outer world mirrors your inner shift, not to condemn but to confirm that a higher authority now reigns. The Kingdom of God is not outside you; it has moved into the center of awareness, patiently awaiting the moment you fully invest in the new king you are becoming.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and say, 'I AM the King of my life made anew.' Imagine being carried in a second chariot to Jerusalem within, and feel the restoration as already finished.
