Biblical Context
The king and his princes, with all Jerusalem, planned to observe the Passover in the second month because the priests had not sanctified themselves, and the people had not yet gathered in Jerusalem.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the Passover is a state of consciousness, not a date on the calendar. The delay in the second month signals a mind that has not prepared the temple of awareness. The king, the princes, and the congregation are your ruling ideas and feelings deciding to observe from a newly sanctified place. When the priests have not sanctified themselves, you sense a barrier between your highest sense and the ordinary actions of fear and habit. Neville would say: time is not the culprit; inner condition delays the experience of freedom. To revise is to imagine a new inner order: see yourself sanctified now, see the inner temple cleansed, see your gathering in Jerusalem as a present fact. Make the feeling of holiness tangible: attention focused, judgments softened, obedience to a higher impression. By assuming the state of sanctification, you align all parts of consciousness, and the Passover becomes real in your life this moment, not in some distant future.
Practice This Now
Assume sanctification now. Feel the temple built within your mind and the city Jerusalem gathered there; let the Passover be kept within your consciousness this moment by a single, calm assumption that holiness is your present reality.
