The Inner House of Help

2 Chronicles 20:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Chronicles 20 in context

Scripture Focus

9If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
2 Chronicles 20:9

Biblical Context

When calamity comes, stand in the inner sanctuary of your being, in God's presence. If you do, you will be heard and helped.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here the 'house' is your state of awareness, and the 'name' in this house is the I AM you truly are. Evil—sword, judgment, pestilence, famine—are moves of fear within consciousness, not distant forces. To stand before this house is to keep your attention anchored in one Presence, not to petition a far-off deity. When you cry unto thy presence in affliction, you are not begging; you are declaring identity: I AM in this moment, I AM hearing, I AM helped. The moment your awareness rests in the I AM, the imagined separation dissolves and the conditions begin to respond from within as if you were already whole. It is a discipline of alignment, not a conquest. The verse invites you to discover that help arises as soon as you acknowledge that you are the one who hears and is heard. Your prayer is a renunciation of lack and a reaffirmation of being.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes in a quiet moment and step into your inner sanctuary. Speak the I AM aloud (or in your heart) and feel as if you are heard and helped now; dwell in the sensation of answer.
