Stand Still, See Salvation

2 Chronicles 20:14-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Chronicles 20 in context

Scripture Focus

14Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
15And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
16To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
2 Chronicles 20:14-17

Biblical Context

A prophet announces that God will fight Judah's battle and they should not fear; they are to go out the next day and witness salvation rather than fighting.

Neville's Inner Vision

Fearful thoughts crowding your life are the 'great multitude' the text mentions. The Spirit of the LORD coming 'in the midst' is the rising awareness within you—the I AM that watches thoughts without being swept away. When the messenger declares 'the battle is not yours, but God's,' understand that the only struggle you face is a misalignment between your assumed reality and your true nature. The moment you accept that your state of being is already safe, you stop fighting appearances and let your inner director revise the scene. 'Stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD' becomes a mental posture: hold the image of complete protection, cease reacting to fear, and observe circumstances bending to your revision. The LORD being with you is not distance but an inner fact—the presence of God as your consciousness. As you dwell in this awareness, the external event becomes a manifestation of inner harmony, and you walk forward as though the victory is already accomplished.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In the next moment, assume the state 'I AM with you' as the base of the scene. Then revise the situation to reflect inner peace, and feel it real by breathing calmly and dwelling in that certainty.
