Biblical Context
Jehoshaphat returns peacefully to Jerusalem while a seer rebukes him for helping the ungodly; yet he is commended for removing the idols and preparing his heart to seek God, and he proceeds to lead the people back to the LORD.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe how the outer events mirror an inner conversion. Jehoshaphat’s return to Jerusalem in peace is a figure of the mind settled in the I AM, no longer tossed by appearances. The seer’s rebuke exposes a moment when one chooses between agreeing with the ungodly images of fear and returning to the LORD within. To help the ungodly is to identify with the former state, and thus wrath arises from the Presence; to stand in the truth of your own God-state is to invite harmony. Yet there are good things in thee: you have torn down the groves—those old idols and limiting beliefs that occupied your inner landscape—and you have prepared your heart to seek God, which is the daily discipline of attention to the divine. From Beersheba to mount Ephraim, you go forth in consciousness through your thoughts, gathering them back to the LORD God of your fathers. This is revival: the king is returning home, and the whole inhabitants of your mind are brought back to the Lord. You are the narrator of your own restoration; the external is your inner posture made visible.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already the peace-filled king of your inner city; revise every belief that obstructs the I AM and feel your heart turning back to God.
