Inner Covenant of the LORD

2 Chronicles 13:9-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Chronicles 13 in context

Scripture Focus

9Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
10But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:
11And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him.
12And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
2 Chronicles 13:9-12

Biblical Context

The text contrasts loyal worship under the LORD with counterfeit priesthood. It declares that the LORD is with the faithful and that opposing forces cannot prosper.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture this as a single inner scene. The true priests are your steadfast I AM—your inner loyalty to the God within. Counterfeit powers, imagined gods, are the voices that say you must worship elsewhere. The wearied are the 'other lands' priests. But we, the consciousness that knows the LORD is our God, keep the daily service: the morning and evening remembrance, the sweet incense of gratitude, the bread of presence on the table of attention; these are not outward rituals but the discipline of seeing God in you. And behold, God himself is with us as our captain; the inner trumpets cry, not in war against people, but to awaken faith. When you are tempted to doubt, revise your scene to this: I am kept by the LORD; the I AM leads my battles; no illusion can prosper against the light of awareness. Keep the charge of the LORD your God within, and the outward forms fade in the glow of inner revelation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes, declare, the LORD is my God, and the I AM is the captain of my life. Feel that truth as a living presence, and imagine the inner trumpets sounding a clear alarm to all false fears. Repeat daily until it becomes effortless.
