Scripture Focus

16And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
2 Chronicles 12:16

Biblical Context

Rehoboam dies and is buried in David’s city; Abijah then reigns in his stead, signaling a shift of rulership within the lineage.

Neville's Inner Vision

See in this verse the map of your own consciousness. Rehoboam sleeping with his fathers is not a merely historical end but the surrender of the old self that still tyrannizes by memory and habit. The burial in the city of David marks the center of awareness—the I AM, the heart where true kingship resides. Abijah, his son, reigning in his stead, represents a fresh state of consciousness taking command. There is no outside coup; there is an inner shift: the I AM asserts a new government, and the kingdom of God within becomes the operating government of your life. Providence is your own imagination becoming certain. When you feel the throne is yours, when you move in the certainty that you are the ruler of your inner and outer world, the outer circumstances follow. The old cycles die so a higher tone can rise. You are not subject to the past if you claim the right to reign now, from within.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, place your hand on your chest, and imagine Abijah seated on a throne there. Then declare, 'I AM Abijah, and I reign in my life now,' and feel the authority of this new reign settling into your being.
