Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rehoboam gathers warriors to fight his brethren and reclaim the throne. The LORD sends a word by Shemaiah, ordering peace and a return to their homes, and the people obey.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider Rehoboam's army as the chorus of thoughts clamoring to seize control of your inner kingdom. The 'war' here is not a battle of swords but a dispute in your mind about who rules. The LORD's word through Shemaiah says, do not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house; for this thing is done of me. When you hear that inner voice and obey it, the outer conflict dissolves not by force but by recognition that the condition is already in your consciousness, exactly as the verse declares: this is done of me. Therefore, the peace you seek is already present in the I AM. The outer world shifts as you stop pushing and start resting in awareness. Your true kingdom is within, governed by divine order, not by the self-willed drive to conquer. So cultivate the practice of listening for the inner directive and aligning your outer actions to its quiet counsel. The rest will follow from the certainty that all events unfold at the pace of your inner state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the state, 'I am governed by inner wisdom,' and feel it real. Then revise outward action by listening for the inner directive to return to your house and let divine order restore harmony.
