Biblical Context
Rehoboam goes to Shechem to be crowned by all Israel. Jeroboam, who had fled to Egypt, hears of this and returns.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the scene as a drama of your own mind. Rehoboam going to Shechem is the moment your higher I AM moves toward a new center of power, gathering the scattered faculties into a single decision. The people of Israel symbolize the integrated energies within you ready to acknowledge a new ruler. Jeroboam, the exile who has fled to Egypt, represents old fears and habit patterns that still seek refuge in the past. When he hears that the crowd is ready to crown, and he returns, you are watching the inner pullback that tests the new state. The presence of Solomon, the old king, and the idea of a settled order stand behind this movement as the old belief system you are leaving behind. Yet the action is only inward: an inner decision that declares, I AM the ruler here. As you inwardly acknowledge this new king, the so-called external events align with your assumption. Jeroboam's return becomes evidence that your former limitations are not annihilated but reinterpreted as stepping stones for your present sovereignty.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the role of the king within. Feel the I AM presence rising, and repeat I AM king within until the sense of sovereignty settles.
