Solomon’s Inner Wisdom

2 Chronicles 1:7-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Chronicles 1 in context

Scripture Focus

7In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
2 Chronicles 1:7-12

Biblical Context

God appears to Solomon and offers to grant any request. Solomon, mindful of mercy to David and his kingly task, asks for wisdom and knowledge to govern the people; God grants wisdom and, in addition, riches and honor.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the night within you, God appears as the I AM and offers you a sovereign question: what do you desire of life? Solomon answers with a heart mindful of mercy and rightful rule, choosing wisdom and knowledge to govern the inner and outer ‘people’ of your life. This is the state of consciousness Neville calls the ruling idea—the conviction that you are capable, discerning, and just. To ask for wisdom is to claim the power to judge rightly, to move through your day with discernment in every action, not to clamor for wealth. When the inner heart truly desires understanding for the purpose of service to your life, the response comes: wisdom is granted, and riches and honor follow as natural expressions of that wise state. The throne you seek is not a distant place but the I AM within you; your outer world aligns with this inner order as you continuously dwell in the felt sense of wise ruling. Your imagination becomes the throne; reality follows your governing idea.

Practice This Now

Tonight, assume you are the wise ruler of your life. Feel the I AM seated on your inner throne, ask for wisdom, and revise any attachment to outer riches until discernment feels real.
