Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul exhorts the man of God to flee the noise of the world and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. He urges fighting the good fight of faith, laying hold of eternal life, and remaining faithful until Christ's appearing.
Neville's Inner Vision
See this not as distant history, but as your present state of consciousness. You are told to flee the noise of the world and to pursue the steady virtues—righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness—as the inner disposition of who you are now. The 'good fight of faith' is the steadfast act of imagining yourself already in eternal life, thus laying hold of it. You are called and have professed a good confession before witnesses, which in your case are the inner faculties that recognize truth. The charge stands in the sight of God who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed a good confession, meaning your own living acceptance of the Christ within. Keep this commandment without spot until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ inside you; for in his times he shall show him as your experienced self—the blessed Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords within. He alone holds immortality, dwelling in the light that no sense can approach; yet you can know him as the inner light of awareness. To him be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are already the virtue described; feel eternal life as present reality. Declare 'I am united with the life of God' until this state becomes your natural experience.
