1 Timothy 5:11-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 5 in context

Scripture Focus

11But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
1 Timothy 5:11-13

Biblical Context

The passage cautions younger widows not to abandon their commitment to Christ for remarriage, and warns against idle living and gossip that arise when attention drifts from inner truth.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the 'younger widows' are states of consciousness prone to be swayed by outward desires for companionship and status. When that state begins to wax wanton against Christ, the mind chooses external attachments over the I AM within. 'Having damnation' is a mental judgment you place on yourself for casting off your first faith—the inner recognition of unity with God. The idle wandering and busybody energy spring from wandering attention and the habit of repeating thoughts that do not serve truth. The cure is to hold to the first faith as a living, present reality: see yourself as the I AM, complete and unchanging. Redirect your imagination back to that inner truth, discipline your thoughts, and let outward scenes yield to the authority of your inner state. When you presume and dwell in that unity, what once seemed 'outside' harmonizes with your inner vision.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, rest in the I AM presence, and imagine the verse as a mirror of your inner state; revise any sense of lack by affirming 'I am the I AM' and feel it real.
