Inner Minister Within

1 Timothy 4:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 4 in context

Scripture Focus

6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
1 Timothy 4:6-7

Biblical Context

Paul urges Timothy to remind the brethren of sound teaching so he may be a faithful minister, nourished by faith and doctrine; he is to reject fables and exercise godliness.

Neville's Inner Vision

These verses speak to the inner minister you already are. To remind the brethren is to keep in the field of your consciousness the truths you know, and by so doing you become a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished by faith and by the words of sound doctrine you have already attained. Nourishment does not come from external tales but from the convictions you have chosen as real. Whereunto thou hast attained indicates the state you currently inhabit; you can walk from that state today. Refuse profane and old wives fables means discard the wandering stories that pretend to govern you; exercise thyself unto godliness means train the self to express divinity through consistent inner practice—quiet attention, integrity, and living from the I AM. This is the mechanism by which inner truth shapes outer life: consciousness first, then form.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are the minister of truth within. Feel nourished by faith and sound doctrine, refuse the world’s fables, and let godliness become your habitual state.
