Be The Example: Inner Youth
1 Timothy 4:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Timothy 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Let no one despise thy youth, but be an example for believers in word, conduct, charity, spirit, faith, and purity. It points to inner cultivation—the same pattern that others imitate outwardly.
Neville's Inner Vision
All such admonition is addressed to the I AM within. The belief in your youth as a limitation is the very thing to be transfigured by consciousness. When you accept the command to be an example, you do not strive from without; you assume the feeling of the state you desire until it becomes your living atmosphere. See that believers in your inner theatre are your own higher states—the words you utter, the conduct you show, your charity, your spirit, your faith, and your purity. The world you see is the echo of the consciousness you dwell in. Therefore, your task is to dwell as one who already commands those qualities. When you imagine yourself speaking with grace, acting with affectionate motive, remaining steadfast in faith, and keeping your heart pure, you are not pretending; you are recalling the truth that you are already that consciousness. Despising youth is merely a belief; you replace it with the awareness that you are the pattern others imitate. Persist in this inner posture, and the outer life will align with it, and others will call you an example because you radiate the inner standard.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the feeling that you are already the example—see yourself speaking with calm kindness, living in charity, and steadfast faith. Then revise any doubt by declaring, I am the example now.
