The Inner House of Truth

1 Timothy 3:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 3 in context

Scripture Focus

14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1 Timothy 3:14-15

Biblical Context

Paul writes that he hopes to visit soon, and if he delays, Timothy should know how to conduct himself in the house of God, the church, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Neville's Inner Vision

These words address your inner state rather than a distant institution. The 'house of God' is the sanctuary of your awareness; 'the church of the living God' is the living I AM you awaken to in imagination. 'The pillar and ground of the truth' means truth is sustained by your steadfast conviction, not by external rites. When the writer speaks of tarrying, he points to the tempo of your inner rhythm—the moment you stop seeking proof in the outer world and begin to inhabit the idea you are already the truth you seek, the world begins to align. In Neville's terms, a change of state precedes a change of scene. So you must govern your behavior from within, letting your thoughts, feelings, and assumptions align with the reality you intend. The church is not a place; it is your continuous awareness holding up the truth you choose to live. By consistently assuming the end and feeling it real, your external conditions become the faithful expression of that inner pillar.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: close your eyes and assume the state, 'I am the house of God, I am the pillar and ground of truth,' then feel that state as real and act from it in the next 24 hours.
