Inner Commands Revealed

1 Thessalonians 4:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Thessalonians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:2

Biblical Context

Paul says you already know the commandments given through the Lord Jesus. These commandments are known from your inner life in Christ.

Neville's Inner Vision

Paul's declaration is not about a ledger of external rules but about inner commandments sown by the Lord Jesus—the Christ within. The 'we gave you' is the act of inner communication, a governing principle issuing from the I AM that you are. When you stand in that awareness, obedience arises not from fear but from alignment with your true nature. The commandments you 'know' are the felt possibilities that arise as you dwell in the presence of the inner law. Your outer conduct becomes simply the natural expression of that inner alignment. To practice, enter the assumption that you have already been taught by the Lord Jesus, feel the certainty of that teaching, and revise any belief that you are separate from it. In that revision, the sense of separation dissolves and acts flow from the Christ within. The Lord Jesus is your inner governor, not a distant figure; knowing is an existing awareness within you. So you can live the commandments now by remaining in that consciousness, letting life echo your inner statute.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume you are already under the inner commandments; feel the governing presence of the I AM guiding one current decision. Revise that thought to align with the inner law and feel it as real.
