Caught Up With the Lord
1 Thessalonians 4:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Thessalonians 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes believers who are alive being caught up with those who have died to meet the Lord, then dwelling with Him forever.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of this verse as a keynote on your inner life. 'We who are alive and remain' points to the state you presently inhabit as consciousness, not a crowd out there. The 'caught up... in the clouds' is the ascent of your awareness above the storm of doubt, carried by the air of your I AM. 'To meet the Lord in the air' means you meet your own divine presence in the theater of your thoughts, and then the story changes: you are no longer separated from the Lord; you are simply awake to Him. The promise 'and so shall we ever be with the Lord' reveals that the eternal union is now experienced as your continuous, quiet sense of being with Him. In Neville's terms, the kingdom is within; the rapture is a revision of your inner state, not a physical event. By identifying with the I AM—feeling the reality of your oneness—you pull the future into your present and dwell in the joy of the Lord.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you are already in the presence of the Lord and feel that I AM at the center of your being. Rest in that felt reality until it becomes your everyday state.
