Gospel Trust Within

1 Thessalonians 2:4-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Thessalonians 2 in context

Scripture Focus

4But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
5For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
6Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
1 Thessalonians 2:4-6

Biblical Context

Paul and his companions were entrusted by God with the gospel and spoke it openly, aiming to please God rather than people. They avoided flattery, deceit for gain, and any desire for personal glory, choosing humility instead.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this text the inner appointment is clear: being put in trust with the gospel means your mind has received a sovereign assignment from the I AM. God, the I AM, is the tester of the heart, and your spoken word is an outward manifestation of that inner trust. When you speak, you do so not to win the favor of men, but to honor the one within you who already knows truth. The traps—flattering words, a cloak of covetousness, and the lure of glory—are simply remnants of the old self clinging to appearances. The true state is that you are the expression of God in operation, and all glory belongs to the Source, not to you. Therefore your ministry becomes a gentle service, not a burdensome status, because the witness is God within. When you align with this inner reality, your voice carries the gospel as an inner conviction, and the external world merely reflects that truth back to you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume today that the I AM has entrusted you with the gospel; revise any urge to flatter or seek gain, and feel-it-real that your words flow from God within.
