Inner Boldness in Trials

1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Thessalonians 2 in context

Scripture Focus

1For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
2But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
1 Thessalonians 2:1-2

Biblical Context

They came to Thessalonica with a message that their entrance was not in vain. After suffering and being mistreated at Philippi, they spoke boldly in God to proclaim the gospel amid contention.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider this text as a map of your inner life. The entrance you 'know' is the moment you drop into a new state of consciousness—the I AM aware of itself, the God within you. The declaration 'not in vain' means that when you step into this state with feeling, your actions will ring true in your world. The Philippi suffering and the shameful treatment are not external tales but inner disturbances—old fears, doubts, habits—that resist the new you. Yet we are 'bold in our God' when we speak the gospel of God with contention; this is the inner stance of faith: you affirm the new image, you persist in it, you let imagination do the heavy lifting. The gospel is simply your new story of being, breathing through you, shaping events as you align with the end you desire. So, revise any sense of lack by declaring, 'I am bold in God; I am already present in the truth I seek.' Allow the inner movement to become outer fact.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume you already possess what you seek, feeling the I AM as warmth in your chest. Revise a recent scene to align with the end you desire, and affirm boldly: 'It is accomplished in me.'
