Inner Exemplar in Affliction
1 Thessalonians 1:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Thessalonians 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
They became imitators of Paul and the Lord, receiving the word under pressure, and shone with the joy of the Holy Spirit, becoming examples to believers. The inner reception and steadfast joy transformed outward influence.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, you are not following men; you are following the I AM within. The 'word' you hear is the living word in your own consciousness. The 'affliction' is the outer clinging to appearances; inside, you choose the state that the I AM whispers. When you receive the word and align with it, joy springs up—the Holy Spirit’s light moving through your being. Do not resist the sense of difficulty; revise your assumption until you feel it real. By dwelling in that state, you become the example others imitate; your inner vitality radiates as guidance to all who believe. In your imagination you stand in the Macedonia and Achaia of your life, touching every region with faith and joy. Your faith expressed as states of consciousness transforms; you are the exemplar because you have chosen the inner word over circumstance. The I AM is not distant; it is the light within you. Imagination creates reality, so practice dwelling in the joy of the word until it becomes your outward life.
Practice This Now
Assume right now: I am the I AM; I have received the word within. Let joy flood my heart and imagine myself as an example to others.
