1And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.
2And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.
1 Samuel 7:1-2

Biblical Context

The ark rests in Kirjathjearim for twenty years, and Israel laments after the LORD, signaling a deep inner longing.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the ark not as a wooden chest but as the I AM—the living Presence you call God within. When the men set the ark in Abinadab’s house, and Eleazar is sanctified to guard it, you are being shown a moment of inner arrangement: a new state of consciousness assigned to safeguard the awareness of God within. The long residence in Kirjathjearim, and Israel’s twenty-year lament, mirror the mind's habit of waiting outside the Self, seeking God in externals while the true Presence waits in the sanctified inner chamber. The 'house of Israel' is your own house of thought; the longing is your soul's cry for the awareness of the LORD. This is not punishment but a divine invitation to shift loyalty—from ritual outside to a covenant fidelity within. Holiness and separation begin when you sanctify the inner space, and true worship happens as you consciously dwell in the I AM. Assume the Presence is already here; your daily acts become its vigil, and the ark confirms you are one with the divine I AM rather than apart from it.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place the ark in your inner chamber, and declare, 'I am the Presence here,' until you feel it as your own awareness. Carry this sense into your day and let it govern your thoughts and deeds.
