1 Samuel 4:6-7

Biblical Context

The Philistines hear a great shout and learn that the ark of the LORD has come into the Hebrew camp; they fear this unprecedented presence among God's people.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the shout and the ark’s entrance are not mere history, but a sign of your inner state coming alive. The ark stands for the I AM—the Self awareness that now walks through the camp of your mind. The Philistines are the lingering fears and habits of the old you, who tremble when light touches them. Their cry, God is come into the camp, is the acknowledgment that your inner king has arrived; with that arrival, old terms of limitation begin to dissolve and the impression of separation yields to a unity of consciousness. The line about there having been no such thing heretofore is the old awareness that power lay outside; as you entertain the awareness I AM within, that outside world shifts to reflect your inner state. The events of the chapter then are not external warfare but the moment your awareness asserts itself as God in your life.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and breathe into the felt sense of I AM; imagine the ark entering your inner camp and rest in that awareness, letting fear dissolve as you remain in that state.
