Listening to the Inner Word
1 Samuel 3:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Samuel faithfully repeats all the Lord spoke to him to Eli, with nothing hidden; Eli acknowledges it as the Lord’s word and allows what seems good.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the heart of 1 Samuel 3:16-18, Samuel’s waking ear is your own awareness, the I AM, listening beyond the noise. The call to Samuel is the inner awakening; his answer, 'Here am I,' is the posture of the I AM ready to hear and declare truth. Eli represents old conditioning—fear, fear of consequence, the habit of withholding. When Samuel tells him every whit, he embodies the discipline of total inner disclosure: there is nothing hidden from the inner Lord. The recognition 'It is the LORD' is the moment you realize that the word you hear comes from your own divine self, not from some distant power. Letting God do what seems good is relinquishing resistance and aligning with the inner will that knows what is best for your true being. As you persist, the inner Word becomes your guiding presence, transforming fear into faithful action and offering a clear path that cannot be overshadowed by doubt.
Practice This Now
Assume you have heard the inner word today and respond, 'Here am I.' Announce to your inner Eli that you will tell all you hear, then rest into the truth that the I AM will do what seems good in you.
