Inner Kingship Restored
1 Samuel 28:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 28 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Samuel declares that the LORD has departed from Saul and rent the kingdom from him, giving it to David. Saul's request for guidance reveals a state of consciousness parted from the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the inner-eye, Samuel's pronouncement is not a distant history but a mirror of your inner weather. The Lord departing from Saul signifies Saul’s inner state turning away from the I AM, its awareness dimmed by fear and insistence on self-will. The kingdom being given to David is not merely a political transfer but the inner sovereignty you claim when you align with your true source. When Saul seeks counsel from a witch, he demonstrates reliance on an outer agent rather than the living I AM, and thus the inner kingdom is rent away by the belief that you are separate from Source. The neighbor David represents the shift of inner posture—an inner, faithful authority arising when you stop bargaining with fear and listen to the I AM within. The prophetic word becomes your inner law: you cannot rule while divided from the Source. To reclaim your throne, assume the state of David now: not by force but by the settled awareness that the I AM rules you and through you. Abandonment is the friction of belief; consent to the One within and your outer scene will follow.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, and declare, 'The I AM now rules within me.' Feel the inner throne bright and secure, and imagine David taking his seat as your steady inner voice.
