Inner Kingdom After Disobedience

1 Samuel 28:15-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 28 in context

Scripture Focus

15And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
17And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:
18Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.
19Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
1 Samuel 28:15-19

Biblical Context

Saul seeks counsel because he faces the Philistine threat, but Samuel declares that the LORD has departed from him, the kingdom is taken away, and Israel will be delivered to the Philistines; Saul and his sons will die the next day.

Neville's Inner Vision

The scene is a metaphor for your inner state. When you feel God has departed, recognize it as a shift in your consciousness, not a fact about God. The crown of kingship is your wholeness in awareness; disobedience to your inner voice weakens that state and invites inner conflict, like the Philistines. The neighbor David symbolizes the higher self awakening when you align with Truth. The Lord delivering Israel into the hand of the Philistines becomes the old self yielding to a new inner state as outer appearances crumble. Saul's fate warns that you cannot hold a crown by effort alone; you must return to the I AM and invite the inner counsel back. The remedy is present: assume God is with you now, revise the sense of separation, and let your revised consciousness march forward in victory.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, rest in the I AM, and silently declare that God is with you now. Then revise the sense of abandonment by imagining the inner counsel affirming your rightful charge, and feel power today.
