Inner Guidance Beyond Distress
1 Samuel 28:15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 28 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Saul is distressed by an approaching Philistine threat and by a felt absence of God. He seeks guidance from Samuel, hoping for signs that never come.
Neville's Inner Vision
Saul’s distress is not caused by armies outside but by the belief of separation from the I AM within. When Saul says God is departed and that no prophet nor dream answers, he disowns the presence that is always within. Samuel’s question - 'Why hast thou disquieted me?' - is an invitation to notice that the counsel you seek is not beyond you but within your own awareness. The 'voice' of Samuel becomes the inner I AM, the quiet, ever-present watcher who knows what to do. The 'Philistines' represent your mental battles, the unconscious thoughts that pretend you are divided from God. The remedy is to shift from seeking the next external sign to assuming the state of complete awareness: God is with you now, you are that God, and the inner Samuel speaks in the mood of certainty. When you revise the belief 'God is departed' to 'God is the I AM within,' you will hear the answer not as a command but as a calm impulse guiding action. Your job is to feel it, not argue for it.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare: I AM with God now; hear the inner Samuel speak; feel guided.
