1 Samuel 27:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 27 in context

Scripture Focus

9And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
1 Samuel 27:9

Biblical Context

David defeats the land, spares no one, and takes sheep, oxen, donkeys, camels, and apparel, returning to Achish.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the land in this verse is your own mind, and David is the I AM that awakens within. When the text says he smote the land, it speaks of clearing the worn-out, fear-filled beliefs that say you are lacking. To leave neither man nor woman alive is to release every old identity that clings to limitation. The cattle and apparel are not commodities you rob; they are the energies, talents, and coverings of the old self you now claim as your own. By returning to Achish, the wise inner state, you demonstrate that you are in alignment with your higher self—your source of true provision. This is not cruelty but the inward discipline of letting go and gathering your spiritual resources. The outward raid becomes a symbol of your decision to provide for yourself from within, so all outer circumstances reflect that inner order. Trust that your inner world organizes the form of your life as you hold the vision steady in the I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine you stand in your mind’s land with nothing but abundance. Assume you have all you need, and feel the wealth as present. Repeat: I am wealth, I am provision; as you revise the scene, see yourself returning to your inner Achish with goods that symbolize your inner strength.
