1 Samuel 24:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 24 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David spares Saul in the cave, showing mercy and restraint toward his perceived enemy. The robe’s edge witness marks there is no evil in his hand.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, the cave is your inner state. In that space, a part of you has appeared as threat, yet the story of David shows the I AM choosing mercy. When he says, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord, he is declaring to your own awareness that the 'enemy' is not separate from the divine order; Saul is the LORD's anointed within you. The delivered moment—being in his hand—speaks to the power of your assumption: you decide what the scene means. Cutting the skirt of the robe but not harming him is the sign you can verify that there is neither evil nor transgression in your hand; you can hold the evidence of mercy in your consciousness while the impulse to strike passes. In Neville's terms, you are not two beings fighting; you are one I AM choosing a higher image. Stay with the feeling that you would not harm any aspect of yourself, and you align with the inner king who governs your world. Your awareness reforms the story; the outer world follows this inner reality.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling: 'I will not lift my hand against my lord within.' Sit quietly and revise a troubling scene by affirming mercy toward the 'enemy' aspect inside you.
