Inner Provision for the Self
1 Samuel 22:10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 22 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David is aided by divine favor as the priest seeks the LORD for him, supplying victuals and the sword of Goliath.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the priest and the LORD as your inner processes. In Neville's language: The verse shows that the I AM, your central awareness, is approached by the inner 'priest' (the higher part of you) who inquires of God for another. The answer comes not as external fact alone but as inner provision—victuals for nourishment and a weapon for courage. When you make that inquiry in your imagination, you awaken a current of supply that already exists in the state you hold. The victuals stand for nourishment to your mind and will; the sword for clarity, courage, and decisive action. The true miracle is the shift in state—knowing you are already provided, you experience provision as present reality, not distant hope. The instruction is to assume the feeling of being sustained and equipped, not begging, but recognizing the inner 'kingdom' answering: I am provided for; I am armed to overcome the giant. Life then follows the alignment of inner faith.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in imagination, see the inner priest asking the I AM for you; picture yourself receiving food and the Goliath-sword, and declare in the present tense, 'I am provided for.'
