4And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
1 Samuel 21:3-4

Biblical Context

David asks for bread, and the priest says only holy bread is available if the young men have kept themselves from women.

Neville's Inner Vision

David stands as the awakened self before the inner priest, seeking bread for his journey. The priest answers that no common bread is at hand, but there is hallowed bread for those who have kept themselves from distraction and impurity. This is a law of the mind: nourishment comes only from the purified thoughts and the allegiance to inner order. When you, too, keep your purpose pure, the holy bread becomes available, not from the world but from the Presence within. The outer lack shifts as your state of consciousness aligns with the I AM; supply flows from the inner region you have assumed to be real. Thus, the bread you eat is the conviction that you are already sustained by divine Life, and your life rearranges to fit this completed state. The inner guard, not the outer demand, determines what may be given. You are not denied; you are asked to rise to the level at which the holy bread exists.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place your hand on your heart, and declare I am fed by the Bread of Presence; then imagine the holy bread resting in your hand as already yours.
