Hidden Idols in the Bed
1 Samuel 19:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 19 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
When the messengers enter Saul's house, they discover an image idol in his bed, with a pillow of goats' hair used as a bolster. This reveals a private idol and a false worship that rests beneath outward appearances.
Neville's Inner Vision
What you witness as an idol in the bed is not a stone image but a fixed image in consciousness—the belief about yourself and your life that sustains false worship. The bed is the resting place of belief, the goats' hair pillow the soft, familiar support that keeps this image comfortable. When the messengers arrive—the voices of truth, circumstance, or judgment—your inner ruse is revealed. This exposure is mercy, inviting you to awaken to your true nature. The remedy is to turn from the idol toward the I AM within, declare that you are not governed by that image but by divine awareness. As you align with the I AM, the idol dissolves and your inner kingdom of true worship replaces the counterfeit image. This is holiness and separation: disown the idol of the self and consecrate your life to the one reality you truly are.
Practice This Now
Before sleep or upon awakening, sit quietly and imagine the bed of your mind; visualize the idol lying there, then revise it by affirming 'I AM the I AM' and feel that divine awareness flooding the space.
