Feigning Sickness, Inner Deliverance

1 Samuel 19:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 19 in context

Scripture Focus

14And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
1 Samuel 19:14-15

Biblical Context

Saul's messengers come to seize David; Michal claims he is sick, and when they press to take him by force to the bed to kill him, the outward plan is thwarted by an inner protective move.

Neville's Inner Vision

Fearful appearances probe your life, but David represents your true self—the arrived idea of I AM, safely hidden within the bed of awareness. The feint of sickness is the mind’s tactic to hide power by posing weakness, while Providence—your inner governing state—buoys you beyond mortal schemes. The bed becomes a symbol of consciousness where rest, not death or defeat, confirms reality. The outer command to bring David to the bed is a test of your attention: can you see that the apparent trap cannot touch the inner truth? The Kingdom of God is within, and awareness remains unscathed by fear-mongering or plots. The future you hope for is the present certainty that deliverance is already yours in your awakened consciousness, guided by the I AM, regardless of external appearances.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, assume the role of the I AM as protector within you. Repeat aloud, I AM the steady, unassailable conscious presence; every outward threat is a dream dissolving in light, and I rest now in the bed of awareness, delivered.
