Inner Kingship and Jealousy
1 Samuel 18:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
1 Samuel 18:7-9 depicts the crowd praising David and Saul's growing fear that his throne is threatened. Saul's reaction—seeing himself as threatened by another's ascent—reveals an inner state of insecurity.
Neville's Inner Vision
Saul's kingdom is a state of awareness, not a political throne. When the crowd hails another's feat, the I AM within feels crowded, and the inner voice declares threat to its occupancy. The line, 'they have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and unto me thousands' is not a report but a signal of inner resistance—an old king clinging to control as if his entire state could be diminished by another's praise. In Neville's method, you are not bound by what the outer appearance suggests. You are the one who imagines; you are the one who revises. The anxiety fades when you treat the scene as the mind witnessing its own abundance rather than a competition for power. The 'kingdom' you fear to lose is the very consciousness you can choose to maintain in every moment. So, when you hear the shout of another's triumph, respond by confirming your own reign: I am the ruler of my inner world, and my kingdom is established now in the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginatively revise now: sit on your inner throne and affirm, 'I AM the king of my inner kingdom.' Feel the peace settle as fear dissolves and authority returns to your awareness.
