Conquering Goliath Within

1 Samuel 17:26-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 17 in context

Scripture Focus

26And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
27And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
1 Samuel 17:26-27

Biblical Context

David asks what shall be done for the man who defeats the Philistine to remove Israel's reproach. The people answer that such a victory will be honored.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this moment, the Philistine is a figure of fear within you, an inner giant. David's question becomes your own: what must be done to remove the reproach that your heart feels when faced with such a challenge? The armies of the living God are the state of I AM awareness you dwell in. When you assume you are the victor and feel it real, the reproach dissolves. The crowd's answer -- 'So shall it be done' -- is the inward law confirming your revision. Do not seek to defeat an external foe; revise the inner image until it matches wholeness. As you dwell in the feeling that it is already done, the giant fades to memory and your life rises with quiet confidence. Your present circumstance is simply the stage for your inner decree; trust the inner process and observe the outer shift. You are not fighting to become righteous; you are awakening to the awareness that you already are the victorious I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise: 'I am the one who removes reproach from Israel' and feel the relief as if the deed is already done. Keep that feeling for a minute.
