12And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
13And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.
1 Samuel 11:12-13

Biblical Context

People challenge Saul’s kingship and threaten to kill those who spoke against him. Saul stays the hand, declaring that today the LORD has wrought salvation in Israel.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of Saul's command not as a kingly decree over others, but as the inner governor appointed by the I AM. The people ask, 'Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us?'—a projection of egoic mind trying to control outcomes. Yet Saul says, 'There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.' In your meditation, the 'people' are your conflicting thoughts; the 'king' is the ruling idea presently in charge. When you realize that the Lord has wrought salvation in you today, you do not punish the old beliefs or the habit energies that seemed to threaten your peace. You acknowledge that salvation is an inner act of awareness, already accomplished by the I AM. The external drama dissolves into a single, present acceptance: mercy, not destruction, is the law of your mind. The new governor, the 'Saul' within, is your correct idea of yourself as alive in God, governing with compassion. When you consciously own that awareness, you experience the moment of salvation here and now, and the old conflict loses its power.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat, 'The LORD hath wrought salvation in me today,' imagining a calm governor within your chest. Feel the old judgments dissolve as the I AM asserts its loving governance.
