Scripture Focus

5After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
1 Samuel 10:5

Biblical Context

You come to the hill of God and encounter a company of prophets coming down to prophesy, signaling the presence of divine guidance.

Neville's Inner Vision

I see the scripture as a map of consciousness. The Hill of God is the I AM, the awareness that is always present. The Philistine garrison stands for stubborn fear and doubt pressing upon the mind. When I come to the city, I meet a company of prophets descending from the high place—my own higher faculties—entered through imagination. They carry instruments—the psaltery, tabret, pipe, and harp—which are the harmonies of inner life. They prophesy, not of external events, but of states and possibilities waking within me. As I listen and fully accept their word, the inner vision becomes real, and the outer world begins to respond to that inward decree. If I entertain the assumption that I am already among the prophets, the voice of guidance arises, and I move with confidence and grace. Prophecy here is not fortune-telling but the revelation that consciousness leads and shapes reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Stand in your mind on the hill of God, envision the prophets descending and prophesying as your own inner guidance; feel it as real now.
