Glory in Suffering Within
1 Peter 4:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Peter 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse encourages enduring suffering as a Christian without shame, directing the heart to glorify God in the midst of it.
Neville's Inner Vision
To suffer as a Christian, Peter says, is not a failure of faith but a conversion of your inner state. Put away the idea that pain must define you; instead, align with the truth that you are the I AM, the living awareness that never suffers in essence. Your outer trials are but images passing before the screen of your mind. When you find yourself in pain, silently affirm, 'I am that I AM; this appearance is not me.' See the circumstance as a suggestive dream, and by choosing a higher self-presentation, you glorify the one within. The act of glorifying God on this behalf is the recognition that the observer and the observed are one; the fear and its symptom arise from a self-concept needing revision. By consistently returning to the awareness that God dwells in you, the suffering loses its grip, and endurance becomes joy rooted in the certainty of your creative, inner Father.
Practice This Now
Today, when pain arises, assume you are already glorifying God by refusing to identify with the pain. Revise the scene in your mind to reflect your true I AM presence and feel it real as you breathe.
