Resting Spirit Within You

1 Peter 4:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 4 in context

Scripture Focus

14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
1 Peter 4:14

Biblical Context

If you are reproached for bearing the name of Christ, you are blessed because the spirit of glory and of God rests on you. The world’s judgment is external, while your true standing is the glorified state within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine the verse as a shift in your inner weather. To be reproached for the name of Christ is to be reminded that the I AM in you is aware of itself as glory. The 'spirit of glory and of God' resting on you is not an external ornament but your operative state of consciousness. When the world speaks against you, it shows you where you have placed your sense of self—outside of the divine inside you. Reclaim that sense now: declare that you already bear the name of Christ as your true title and let the inner light cover you. As you hold that frame, the outside chatter loses its claim, for God in you glows brighter than any accusation. The contrast between their evil speech and your glorified nature dissolves as your attention centers on the I AM who never wavered. The external trial becomes a sign that you are awakening to the presence you always were.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already crowned with the glory of God. Revise your self-image to that truth and feel it real by affirming, 'I am the I AM, and the Spirit rests within me now.'
