1 Peter 3:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 3 in context

Scripture Focus

21The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 3:21

Biblical Context

Peter presents baptism as a like figure that saves us by an inner transformation, not by physical washing. It points to the renewal of conscience toward God through the resurrection life of Christ within.

Neville's Inner Vision

All that Peter writes is a mirror for your inner life. The water figure is symbolic, not literal washing of the body, but a cleansing of belief and identity. The saving power flows from awakening to the inner life that already dwells in you as the I AM, the risen Christ within. When you imagine from the end you are no longer striving toward God; you are recognizing you are one with Him now. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the inner rising of consciousness into wholeness, not a historical event separated from you. The phrase an answer of a good conscience toward God becomes your daily felt state: you stand in right relation with God because you have assumed the truth of your oneness. Your conscience clears as you cease to identify with the old self and begin to live from union, possibility, and immediate life.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine the inner water washing away the old self. Live from the certainty that the resurrection life is presently real to you, shaping every thought toward God.
